December Daily: Day 4

Due to some unfortunate technical difficulties I haven't been able to post any updates recently. I apologize for the loss this has been to all of our faithful readers! Here are some highlights of the last few weeks.

Swinging all by herself or clinging for her dear life with everything that she has?

We got a little snow this week.

Its finally time to put out the Christmas decorations! They're sparse this year and (hopefully) well out of reach.

I was happy to add another stocking to the bunch!

I've wanted an advent calendar for some time now but haven't found just the one I want. I saw this idea online to use a muffin tin. Since I had all the materials I figured I'd make it for this year. It only has 12 cups so I'll have to add more days after the 12th. Lily has enjoyed finding a Teddy Graham behind each door every morning.

Thanksgiving

Neil and Verna were able to come up for Thanksgiving this year! I'm happy to report that I pulled it off for the third year in a row. It was a louder and busier house than last year but that's how it should be right?

The third turkey mutilated by Phil.

Clara was not that happy to see her first turkey.

There was a lot of screaming right after this photo was shot. She may be a vegetarian.

Grandma and Grandpa brought Lily a tool set for Christmas since she loves helping her daddy so much.

She liked the gift but spent most of the week running from Grandpa.

Grandpa had Clara's stamp of approval at least!

Grandpa made this beautiful bull and cart for the girls!

Verna taught me how to make these cute slippers for Clara!

Finally here are some photos of the four of us together!

5 Months Old

Today Clara is 5 months old. She's rolling on the floor professionally now and downing sweet potatoes, green beans and sweet peas that she sometimes has to share with her big sister (who knew Lily would start liking baby food now?!).

This dress is a little small but she said it made her feel like a fancy lady. Here's her Marilyn Monroe pose. (yes, she has my knees!)

Happy Five Months Day Clara!!

Fun For Free

I spent the morning appreciating the fact that "the best things in life are free". Who needs a gym membership when you own the cutest 16 lb dumbbell in the world.

*Brenda, don't turn me in to CPS for calling my child dumb. I'm merely referring to the fact that she can be used as a dumbbell. Of course you'll probably find that equally offensive. Oh, and Lily LOVES playing with straws!

After a delicious breakfast we took the girls for a walk and played on the swings in the park.

I made a pretty little fall centerpiece and spent $0. See how frugal I can be Phil?!

And put the gate in the doorway for at least 5 minutes of fun "being outside" or "ah-sigh" without really being outside for Lily.

Basketball Lesson

Last night we headed over to the basketball court for some b-ball lessons.

Phil thought Lily was ready for some one on one.

But by one on one Daddy really means just one.

Clara couldn't wait for her turn but I told her before she can dribble she has to learn to walk.

Overalls Friday

On Wednesday Lily picked out what she wanted to wear...her too small now swimsuit. It was only in the 40s outside so I thought as long as she didn't want to go swimming we were ok. But we really warmed up on Friday so I declared it Overalls Without Shirts Day...just for the girls, no one else.

Babysitting

Monday I spent all day in Sioux City doing the shopping for the month. Phil and the girls had a great time together. They hung out in their diapers (the girls...I'm not sure about Phil), broke a couple things and almost burned down the kitchen but no one was limping, bleeding or crying when I got home so good job Daddy!
